Backtracking

During the day on July 22nd Ashley and I went back to Notre Dame and explored the inside. I was heckled by gypsies until I acted like I was Deaf and then they acted like I had some sort of disease and left me alone for good.

In the evening after shopping Ashley and I met up with David and he took us to the France Slam at Culture Rapide. Our host? Pilote le Hot.

It was what every Spoken Word artist would wish to achieve; I great host, audience, and venue in Paris France! Even though I didn’t understand all the poetry and my interpreter’s limited in expressing the play on words and metaphors of the French language I enjoyed listening to the melody of sound. Not all the poets recited in French. One man sang a song in Spanish and David read his Valentine’s day massacre poem in English (British English hehe.)

I had such a great experience. I love you poets everywhere! Keep exposing your heart so that we all may hear the historic traditions of story telling!

After I got off stage, I passed out copies of the CD Steph and I made to the audience and put some at the bar. The host tells everyone that the CDs are not free and require a kiss as payment. Three guys line up ready to pay.

Eek! At first I tell them “don’t worry about it.” But payment was demanded and so I made out with em! What cuties anyways and that is how I learned the history of French kissing.

I ended up getting one of the poet’s number and made fantastic memories later on in the trip.
